The folks who run Alta Ski Area seem to want to keep it pretty low-key. There are chairlifts but not fancy chairlifts. There are mountain restaurants, but not fancy ones. A lift ticket is still only $33; half what it costs during high season at Aspen. You can ski a half day at Alta for $25. And, they typically have the best snow conditions in the world.
