At 11,840 feet on the eastern edge of Holy Cross Wilderness are the West Tennessee Lakes. They are reached in about two hours from the end of Lake County Road 131, south of Tennessee Pass, near Leadville, Colorado. The lakes are bordered on the west by the Continental Divide and several 13,000 foot peaks. The view east, of Chicago Ridge and the Mosquito Range was hazy this day, a result of forest fires dozens of miles northwest of here. Please click here for photos and descriptions from the trail.
