I'm a casual hiker compared to some; hard core to others. While I like to climb mountain peaks, many of my hikes are on well-beaten trails into the high valleys of Colorado and the desert canyons of Utah. I've climbed 15 of Colorado's 14,000 foot peaks but have never done any so-called technical climbing. I'm motivated by the isolation and silence in the wilderness, the great scenery I hope to find and a desire to photograph it. I hike most weekends during summer and autumn months, frequently alone.

Typically, I've found it difficult to get much information on the web about hiking trails. My small contribution in these accounts may or may not include the kind of detail other hikers are looking for but will hopefully provide enough information to be useful, informative or interesting. They are of a personal nature, unlike what you might find in a hiking reference book. I recount successes, failures and general observations. are welcome.
