Liberty Cap is a 160 Million year old remnant sand dune for which this trail in the Colorado National Monument was named. Geologists might be facinated by it, but I found it to be no more interesting than the rest of the rock formations in the area. This trail, coming out of Fruita, Colorado is far steeper than the one into Monument Canyon. Liberty Cap trail climbs 1100 feet in about 2.5 miles. More from Colorado National Monument
