Reaching the northwest ridge at 12,700 feet, Todd wonders around a bit, looking for the best way off the ridge into La Plata Basin. There is no trail off the ridge but our map shows a trail in the basin below (bottom right) which should lead us back to Highway 82. Here's a nice view of Bull Hill, upper center and Elbert, upper right.
