This is the alcove for which Alcove Spring is named, for which Alcove Spring Trail is named, where the photo was taken in Canyonlands National Park. The spring which flows beneath the alcove is one of many in the park which enable wildlife to survive in this desert environment. I saw three Bighorn Sheep near the spring just moments after taking the picture.
