This panorama was taken on November 13, 1999. In my many years in Vail I had never seen such a lack of snow on the high peaks in mid-November. It's not unusual to have warm weather in November, but the peaks of the Gore Range which top out at over 13,000 feet usually begin collecting snow in late September, which lingers until the following summer. This shot was captured from Giant Steps near the bottom of Vail Mountain.
